Hearts and Hands Is NEXT WEEK!

-We really need quilting frames and sewing machines set-up for Friday afternoon, March 18th and Saturday all day, March 19th. All sisters willing to loan their machines and frames should have their name and phone number on each piece.  Contact Francine Palmer or Rexene Tilley (Alkali Creek Ward) if you can help.

-Please come any time Friday afternoon and evening 12-7 P.M. and on Saturday 9A.M.-4P.M. We will also be doing a lot of set-up work on Friday morning and would love all the help we can get to sort through dropped off items and get them to their proper locations throughout the building. Bring a friend!

-We are short on clothing protectors and canned food for the friendship baskets.  Protectors are made of light weight WHITE towels with a hole cut out for the head and a ribbing sewn in. We appear to be about 70 short of the request and I am really hoping that even if we can't get all that has been requested that we might be able to get a few more than we currently have. Francine has patterns. Canned vegetables and dessert mixes are again on sale this week at your local grocery store.

Hearts and Hands

We are now in the homestretch for Hearts and Hands 2011. We could still use donations, including twin quilts and food for the friendship bags which include:

40 oz. canned meals
14 oz. canned vegetables
14 oz. canned fruit
1 dessert mix
1 small stuffed toy

For more donation suggestions, contact your ward or branch coordinator or a member of your
Relief Society presidency.

After ten years, this is our very last Hearts and Hands. We invite you to come and serve and enjoy the company of your sisters and the blessings of helping those in our community in need.

School Supplies for Hearts & Hands

It is hard to believe but the start of the school year will soon be here. It is an exciting time for children as well as parents but the cost of school supplies can be a challenge for many families. This time of year many stores slash the cost of school supplies and this is your chance to not only buy for your own family but if possible to buy a little extra for the Hearts and Hands Service Day. The following is a list of items needed for the school kits.

1 backpack
24 pack crayons
markers
#2 pencil
erasers
scissors
glue sticks
spiral notebooks (3-4 for teens, 1 for child)
2-3 1-inch ring binders (for teens)
small bottle hand sanitizer

Any donation, no matter how small or large is very much appreciated and distributed to those most in need.

Hearts and Hands 2011

This evening we held a quilting bee for next year's Hearts and Hands.
We are always a little short on twin size quilts, so we thought we'd get a head start on next year.

We finished four beautiful quilts.
And enjoyed visiting with each other, as well as a yummy potluck dinner.

We're going to meet again in August. We hope you can join us! Your Relief Society president will let you know when we schedule our August quilting bee date.

If you would like to prepare a twin size quilt for tying next month, contact our Hearts and Hands coordinator, Francine Palmer, or a member of the Stake Relief Society Presidency for details.
